Dr. John McAlister is currently founder and CEO of iNovotec Animal Care and CEO of Thermaquatica, Inc. Prior to these activities, Dr. McAlister Ph.D. was recruited by CambridgeSoft in 2008 to drive growth of the organization through acquisition of complementary companies and served in that role until the acquisition of the company in 2011 by PerkinElmer Corporation. From 1994 – 2007, Dr. McAlister served as President, CEO and Board Member of Tripos, Inc. (Nasdaq:TRPS) delivering software and chemical products and services to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and other life science companies and research facilities worldwide. Earlier, Dr. McAlister was President and Head of R&D for Tripos from 1983 through 1993. Tripos served more than 1000 customers in 46 countries, with annual revenue of $65M and a market capitalization of more than $330M. In 2006, after more than 22 years with the company, Dr. McAlister led the search for strategic alternatives that resulted in the sale of the business operations in 2007. In his role as CEO of Tripos, Dr. McAlister received Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Technology for the St. Louis Region in 2002. Dr. McAlister received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, specializing in x-ray crystallography and computational analysis of biologically relevant molecules.
